OPMs client is looking for a Senior Concept Artist who has a breath of experience with different visual styles, topics, and subjects.

The successful candidate will be working directly with the art director and art team on current and future projects and aid in the creation and realisation of the game vision on a dark, story-driven next generation ‘Narrative Adventure’ with genre defining goals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Concept Artist on at least one shipped PC or console title
  • Strong command of foundation art skills and visual design principles
  • An understanding of architecture, environments and anatomy (drawing, painting and rendering, material indication, perspective, composition, colour theory, design, anatomy and 2d and 3d design techniques)
  • Expert level knowledge of Photoshop with an emphasis on drawing, painting and image making. Ability to block out ideas in 3D as well as 2D depending on the needs of the task.
  • Familiarity with video game product development and the fundamentals of 3D packages.
  • Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, attend meetings within feature teams, and communicate the direction and requirements back to the concept team.
  • Strong ideation, brainstorming and documentation skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills. This entails collaborating with the Production group to coordinate task lists to ensure assignments are progressing well according to schedules, objectives, and overall project goals.

Project: AAA Console/PC Games


OPMs client is an independently owned studio on the outskirts of London, and they are all about crafting engaging multiplayer experiences. They are working on several high-profile projects for PC and Console and they need you!

They are seeking a talented Senior Game Designer who will work closely with the Creative Director and will be responsible for the overall game design of an entire product or, for bigger projects, a large area of that product, pushing end to end implementation across the team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passionate about creating and playing games.
  • Deep knowledge of all aspects of design such as: feedback, controls, balance, narrative, game-feel, retention, usability, on-boarding, social mechanics, and player motivation.
  • Strong experience in games, as a Senior Designer having at least one shipped AAA current gen console or PC titles that included a multiplayer component, from concept to final product.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of people-management, mentoring, line-management.
  • Experience in creating first or third person shooters.
  • Understanding of industry trends regarding genres, gameplay, development models, and financial models.
  • Experience of prototyping gameplay mechanics with UE4, Unity, or similar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating a unified game experience and realise and communicate the game vision across the team.
  • Creating and maintain documentation including the GDD and wiki pages, spending time with each design team member and feature team member, ensuring they understand the vision.
  • Deputising for your Lead, you will regularly and effectively communicate with any external partners or publishers, managing those relationships, presenting the creative achievements of the team, negotiating feature requests as required.
  • Oversee and mentor Game Designers, including working with Production and your direct reports to schedule tasks.
  • Act as a hiring manager for junior designers.
  • Consistently be part of peer-reviews.
  • Regularly communicate out progress against quality, scope, and game vision alignment expectations. Discuss and explain the rationale behind your decision making and listen, iterating on feedback from other disciplines or Designers.
  • Regularly present the areas of the game you are responsible for to the studio. Where necessary you will speak to the media and prepare key product messaging for the media.
  • Implementing feature optimisations and tuning plans; you will own the tuning for accountable features or levels.
  • Using feedback from focus group sessions, integrating relevant feedback into the product design.
  • Verify task estimates provided by junior staff and in turn work with your Lead to give your own accurate estimates for work as well as logging work in management software.
  • Provide input to Production and Management on project schedules throughout development to prioritise tasks for the developers responsible for their assigned feature-set, in alignment with the product vision.
  • Communicate the impact of changes to the game-design to the developers on your team.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Professional experience with Unreal Blueprints.
  • Traditional art skills.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages.
  • Undergraduate degree in Video Game Design, Computer Science, Marketing, Entertainment, or a relevant technical training.
  • Experience of being a developer during the live phase of a game as a service, including using telemetry and/or metrics to inform design and content decisions.

  • Assist the marketing team in marketing strategy discussion and as well as discussions linked to new concept sourcing or potential games to distribute. 
  • Ensure the frequent delivery, linked to the needs of the Marketing Manager, of relevant reporting on communication activities in progress and on the evolution of the associated social media.
  • Build & consolidate the relationship with players, player communities, and influencers in relation to your projects.
  • Create content around your projects, ranging from blog articles, images, video, the sky’s the limit, working with the wider team to take these ideas from planning phases to execution.

Project: AAA Console/PC Games

 

OPMs client is an independently owned studio on the outskirts of London, and they are all about crafting engaging multiplayer experiences. They are working on several high-profile projects for PC and Console and they need you!

They are seeking a talented Lead Level Designer who will be responsible for the level design of bigger, more difficult areas of the product, owning numerous levels from concept to final product.

To ensure the safety of their staff moving forward, all their employees are now using a work from home model during the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, and this will continue for the foreseeable future.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deep understanding of all aspects of level design with specialist skills in several areas such as: visual language, architectural composition, sign-posting, combat and encounter design, flow, game balance, support of game mechanics, on-boarding, difficulty tuning and pacing.
  • Extensive experience in games, as a Senior/Lead Designer having at least two shipped AAA current gen or last gen console or PC titles that included a multiplayer component, from concept to final product.
  • Leadership experience including the running of a multi-person design team, people-management, mentoring, line-management.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and experience of being a key part of a leadership group.
  • Experience creating first or third person shooters.
  • Passionate about environment design and architectural concepts.
  • Experience of level-building using 3D level editing tools such as: Unreal 4, UnrealEd, Hammer, Radiant etc.
  • Experience of prototyping gameplay mechanics with UE4, Unity, or similar.
  • Experience with source-control applications such as SVN, Perforce, AlienBrain etc.
  • Experience writing high quality and thorough design documentation including diagram and flow-chart creation
  • Experience in multiplayer level design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the level design of an entire product, pushing end to end implementation across the team.
  • Establish and direct the vision for the levels, defining quality targets and ensuring the department are equipped to build epic, memorable, stunning maps.
  • Realise and communicate the game vision throughout the studio, ensuring alignment across all disciplines.
  • Driving frequent feedback sessions to gather feedback for you and your team and strive to provide constructive feedback to the wider team.
  • Have a clear understanding of the technical constraints of the game engine, the capabilities and workflow of the game editor and level design pipeline, driving ideas to help improve them.
  • Maintaining a focus on the gameplay aspects of the maps and ensure that focus is shared by the Level Design team and respected by the Environment Art team.
  • Presenting your vision for the levels and your work to the team, upper management and the wider company at various stages and be happy to accept critique from all sources.
  • Verifying task estimates provided by junior staff and in turn work with your lead to give your own accurate estimates for work as well as logging work in management software.
  • Offering input to Production and Management on project schedules throughout development to prioritise tasks for the developers responsible for their assigned feature-set.
  • Consistently monitor the bug database and fix issues in a timely fashion to maintain stability and ensure that your team’s levels always remain playable.
  • Define and implement feature optimisations and tuning plans demonstrating a strong understanding of metrics and development restrictions; owning the tuning for accountable features or levels.
  • As required, effectively communicate with any external partners or publishers, managing those relationships, presenting the creative achievements of the team, negotiating feature requests.
  • As required, communicate to the press, communities, and fans in various formats from live appearances to pre-recorded interviews to forum engagement acting as both an evangelist and representative of the product and as an ambassador for the studio.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Strong presentation skills and experience with PowerPoint
  • Experience with UnrealScript, Blueprints, Flow Graph, or other visual scripting software.
  • Understanding of gameplay event scripting and entity setup.
  • Experience with UnrealEd/UDK and Kismet.
  • Experience with 3DSMax, Maya, or other professional 3D modelling software.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or similar.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages.
  • Experience with wiki-based design documentation.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages.
  • Undergraduate degree in Video Game Design, Computer Science, Marketing, Entertainment, or a relevant technical training.
  • Experience of championing a product including giving presentations to press and at conferences and events.
  • Experience running the live phase of a game as a service, including using telemetry and metrics to inform design and content decisions.

Our client has a storied history of crafting innovative and critically acclaimed games. They have multiple studios located throughout Europe and are seeking to further increase their video team working on video marketing content for their world renown MMO games as well as a wide variety of games from their partner studios!
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in creating high-quality trailers and other video material within the gaming industry. Preferably with AAA titles. Hands on experience with video production
  • Someone with a great eye for visuals and cinematography
  • A commercial mindset and ability to understand product and company goals
  • Strong knowledge in Unreal Engine, sequencer, and creation of mock ups, animatics and full in-engine scenes

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a video authority and a creative voice in meetings with key stakeholders
  • Provide feedback to the project management team around timings and resource needs to maintain and manage expectations
  • Come up with creative video pitches by experimenting, exploring industry trends, and adopting new technology
  • Manage the delivery of all formats for creative video assets, ensuring that technical and legal requirements are met
  • Push for new and creative approaches to video assets, while ensuring ideas and executions fit within the respective product and our clients brand guidelines
  • Collaborate and help guide the rest of the video team to tackle joint projects
  • Work with the Marketing Art Director on guiding and giving feedback to freelancers and creative agencies
  • Maintain constant communication between creatives, marketing team and product teams throughout projects providing frequent client updates
