One Player Mission’s client is the creator of one of the world’s best-known FPS franchises and are looking to hire a Lead Level Designer to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the conception, recording, designing and implementation of world-class audio. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a similar role. 
  • Previous open world experience. 
  • Experience with First or Third person survival games.
  • Familiar with Unreal Engine and experience with the creation of Blueprints.
  • Ability to create engaging level layouts to support specific gameplay rules or playstyles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the Level Design vision together with their Creative Director and Executive Producers.
  • Develop and overseeing the rules and metrics for gameplay spaces.
  • Development of levels from conception through to completion, including mission briefs, hand drawn layouts, whiteboxing, narrative planning, scripting and bug fixing.
  • Work with gameplay designers and other team members to ensure key gameplay mechanics are implemented, iterating on the design to ensure the best possible experience.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to conceive and design environments that are in line with the lore, but innovative and visually impressive too.
  • Establish standards for formal design documentation and tools for the project, providing clear and structured project documents.

  • You have worked through the full development cycle in a multidisciplinary team, where you have taken a role directing the collective effort in terms of design and acting as a champion for a major feature of the project and ensuring it meets the project vision.
  • You enjoy the creative challenge of innovating, both in terms of creating unique player experiences and working within the boundaries of existing IP and its associated lore.
  • You are highly skilled in multiple areas of design, with a good understanding of the theoretical frameworks and the current best practices or technologies in implementation in Unreal. Ideally this includes player mechanics, AI, and systems.

Our client is on an epic journey, and they want a Lead Game Designer to join them at their studio in Malmo, Sweden. 

The successful candidate will design, own, and iterate features in their upcoming unannounced AAA open-world action game.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You’re an experienced lead who will ensure design workload is delivered on time and to quality.
  • Someone highly experienced in design and has shipped several PC or console titles.
  • A passionate gamer, preferably with a love for open-world and online games.
  • Motivated, flexible and approachable. You will champion quality across the team.
  • An individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A team member who can develop productive, lasting relationships across all disciplines.
  • You care for people, both personally and professionally.
  • You have demonstrable experience delivering high-quality features and content in your previous work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside art and narrative leadership to deliver designs aligned with the lore and visual goals.
  • Assist the tech team in defining and delivering the tools and systems needed to meet the design and gameplay needs of the project.
  • Work with the recruitment team to identify any resources you need to meet the goals of the game’s design.
  • Create an environment where people feel empowered and can do their best work.
  • Mentor your direct reports in the craft of Game Design.
  • Ensure AAA-quality through regular reviews of design work with peers and the wider team.
  • Provide line management for Game Designers, ensuring 1-on-1’s take place, performance reviews are held and plan career development plans with your direct reports.
  • Hiring and developing people to provide the right expertise for the project.
