Writer/Narrative Designer – Games Writing Experience Required – East Anglia, UK – Permanent

OPM’s client, a leading UK based Game Development Studio, is currently looking for a Writer/Narrative Designer to join their team on their space adventure game that allows players to blaze their own trail in a galaxy of over 400 billion star systems. You will be joining the project at an exciting time as they look to the game’s future and create the narratives that will define the course of the game in the months and years to come.

Responsibilities:

• Create high-quality narrative content
• Create in-game news articles
• Write dialogue for scenarios and missions
• Review the game’s player-facing text
• Contribute to the creation of characters and story arcs
• Work closely with other disciplines to ensure accord between narrative and gameplay
• Ensure consistency with established style and tone

Requirements:

• Previous professional game writing experience
• Writing samples of either dialogue, scriptwriting, character design (in the form or a character profile) or worldbuilding (such as a faction description or a piece of fictional history) is required for your application to be reviewed
• An understanding of narrative design
• Experience of copy-editing
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Design and Marketing
• Able to listen to and provide constructive feedback and work through multiple iterations
• Passion for gaming, with excellent design insights across different genres
