OPM are pleased to working with a Midlands based Serious Games / Simulation software developer. They are experts in developing large scale immersive simulations, 3D visualisations using virtual and augmented reality, and gamification applications, enabling their clients to better engage, train and/or support their staff and customers.

As Software Developer you will be expected to contribute to the companies technical development team.  The Developer will be responsible for the technical design and development of software applications focused around the use of games/simulation technologies.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop systems and software solutions for projects by programming, implementing, and integrating existing solutions working within priorities defined by the project team.
  • Manage the delivery of software development projects. Projects may derive from the company and/or external partners.
  • Achieve the development of client solutions within service defined timescales through coordination with the Development team.
  • Ensure that technical competencies are achieved and maintained in order to allow their technical developments to take place and to provide ongoing support for all projects.
  • Identify suitable software solutions to support the companies clients (public and private sector) and consult/liaise with the in-house project team, and external consultants, suppliers, contractors and company clients to produce a complete technical solution.
  • Communicate project progress to Line and Project Managers.
  • Ensure programming skills are kept updated in line with technology enhancements.
  • Deputises for his/her line manager as required.
  • Undertake such duties as may be specified from time to time by a Director.

              ESSENTIAL        ADVANTAGEOUS


Educated to University Degree level in a subject area related to the field of work. Post Graduate/ Research qualifications.

Agile accreditation.

 Technical Experience

    (Paid and Unpaid)

Proven experience in software programming and development.

Experience of Unity and C#.

Comfortable with basic Vector maths.

Experience of source control system (client-server or distributed).

Team-based project development.



Game development (preferably published title).

VR/AR development.

Physics / AI experience.

Driving game/simulator experience.

Agile development practices.

Experience of Unreal engine (or another major games engine used for published games).

Experience of development tools e.g.



C++ / LUA

IOS/Android development

Microcontroller development


     Job-related skills/


Good problem solving abilities.

Ability to manage own work priorities and time.

Ability to work on own initiative whilst contributing as a member of a team.

Interpersonal Skills


Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Proven ability to write clear and concise documents.

Experience of working with business clients.

Other Requirements

Ability to self-motivate as well as motivate others.

Able to work under pressure…

Ability to work flexibly in order to meet business requirements.

Eligible to work in the UK.

Clean UK Driving licence.


Valid UK Passport.
