UI Designer – AAA Games – South East, UK – 6 Month Contract

OPM is excited to be working with this top AAA studio who have created award winning games that have entertained millions of players around the world. They’re a growing team that are working on an unannounced AAA project as well as some other hit titles in the industry. Their studio is a healthy mix of industry veterans and new talent working together and are encouraged to experiment, innovate and explore with games.

The AAA studio is looking for a creative, collaborative and passionate UI Designer to focus on the player’s experience and interaction with the games, making it as intuitive as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure players can easily navigate menus, icons, and HUDs
  • Work with the UI Producer, in a team with a UI Art Lead and UI engineers to help build seamless and immersive interfaces
  • Work closely with UI Engineers to implement and iterate on UI features & provides technical support to the team with UI and layout skills
  • Develop solutions to challenges in the UI design whilst following the creative and art direction
  • Deliver optimized UI assets and layouts to the developers
  • Wire-up UI features using a visual scripting system

Requirements:

  • Experience in the games industry with at least 1 shipped game, working in UI production group
  • Understanding of various gaming platform limitations with regards to visual assets
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop & an intermediate scripting experience with a working knowledge of visual programming, e.g. UNREAL’s Blueprints visual scripting
  • Excellent aptitude for troubleshooting UI issues & an ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations
  • Excellent communication skills, with a willingness and confidence to provide a bridge between artists, designers and software engineers

Beneficial requirements:

  • Experience/knowledge of Agile/iterative development methodologies
  • Knowledge or experience in Unity
