OPM are working with a well-known visual effects company based in London seeking an experienced Engine Technical Director who has a deep understanding of UE4 and animation / VFX pipelines.

The studio creates multi-touch interactive tables/walls with dynamic content and interfaces for a wide range of clients.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled developer with a background in either Virtual Production, Games, Interactive, VR development to take responsibility for guiding the technical vision of multiple beautifully crafted real-time interactive graphics projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive professional experience using C++ and developing with UE4.
  • High level expertise with all areas of UE4, including a detailed understanding of networking and the replication layer and of Unreal Blueprints and Sequencer interfaces.
  • Experience with using Python to generate or maintain a pipeline or toolset.
  • Experience with Maya and/or Houdini.
  • Experience guiding the technical architecture of a heavily server-based project.
  • Experience creating and managing source control and continuous integration systems for runtime and backend deployments.
  • Experience creating toolset and workflow technical user documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with producers, technical and creative leads to offer input for the budgeting process for real-time elements of a production.
  • Use of Unreal’s sequencer for the generation of Game Engine based previs.
  • Assist in the design and management of the pipeline from the artists through to deployment.
  • Create interaction and functionality using Unreal's Blueprints system.
  • Design complex materials in Unreal and direct artists on best practices for material creation.
  • Optimise content through profiling and enhancing performance with the help of diagnostic tools and instructing the artists on modelling and texturing best practices.
  • Collaborate with programmers to develop and test new features, prototype shader code, and provide useful feedback during R&D phases.
