Our client has an established reputation as one of the most creative and exciting studios in the UK. They are seen internationally as pioneers of storytelling with a flair for creating atmospheric, rich and imaginative games. Their Playstation 4 exclusive title won major awards across the world. This included an amazing 10 BAFTA nominations and 3 BAFTA wins.
In 2018, they joined one of the UK’s most prolific and secure independent family of studios. This new home will see them bring their passion and commitment to creating exciting original games within a network of studios renowned for quality and expertise. Enabling them to expand and grow in ambition and confidence, taking their reputation for storytelling into new genres. They have already started work on one new title and are in discussions about a significant AAA project.
As the Technical Director, you will be the backbone of the studio. If it relates to any technical aspect of development, studio management, strategy, team development, infrastructure and delivery, you’ll be at the centre.
That means you’ll have that mix of being totally reliable and unflappable when it comes to problem-solving and getting stuck into code; and the ability to lead a team and work alongside the other studio heads with patience, passion and diligence. You’ll be endlessly excited about the challenge of game development, and about the opportunities current technology and future trends can bring.
You’ll relish any opportunity to drive the studio forwards, to be the first to meet all challenges head-on, and to bring ideas, not just solutions, to the table. You will be at the centre of their creative process, contributing not just technical experience and intelligence, but imagination, flair and ambition as well. Coding is a deeply creative role and they want someone who is dedicated to creating the best possible architecture for other disciplines to succeed within.
Skills and Requirements:
The studio are able to offer a super benefits package including generous holidays, flexitime and excellent employee benefits. Further perks include their annual Big Day Out, plus epic Christmas parties, money on your birthday and free fruit for everyone! Their new, regular studio Game Jams are a highlight – staff spend a full day developing and pitching their own game ideas for possible development.
The environment is relaxed, friendly and built upon the basis of every team member having the opportunity to shine and have a realisable input into the games we create. They’re located in Brighton, the best city in the south of England and not just a home to an amazingly vibrant game development scene, but a cultural hotspot with fantastic food, arts, music, shopping and sports. The studio is directly opposite a gorgeous park and only a short hop from the city centre, the beach, and the South Downs National Park. Gatwick Airport is half an hour away from train, and you can be in central London in just over an hour. It’s an easy place to love!
