My client currently stands at over 1100 staff worldwide across various studios. They are one of the largest and most recognised game outsource partners in the world. Their track record is not short of achievements, they have worked for 15 of the top 20 game companies worldwide on large AAA, New-Gen projects in addition to shipping over 20 co-developed games on time and budget.

 We are looking for a mid to senior level technical artist to work with their client’s game engines, used in creating high end games for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mobile.

 ROLE OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate will be familiar with node based shader creation tools, such as ShaderFX or the Unreal shader editor. You know level building workflows and tools, and have a good foundation in game development and real-time graphics production. You will also work with level building tools and assist the art team to make their artwork look perfect in the engine and help optimising where needed. Ideally you have already worked on at least one shipped game title.

 In your daily work you will work mostly with production artists. You will help art directors and counsel them about any technical difficulties in production and work with them to solve any problems that may delay production. You will also work closely with the client’s engineers and technical artists, learning and applying their best practices and production techniques.

 You will be part of a team of experienced technical artists, who will share experience and help out if deeper knowledge is required. The technical art team is a close knit team with a helpful attitude. They encourage knowledge sharing and cooperation.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating real-time shaders in a node based shader editor.
  • Being the subject matter expert for shading, integration and level building use for the client’s game engine.
  • Help producers and art directors plan and steer the production by sharing your technical expertise.
  • Day-to-day support of their art teams – inside and outside the 3D application.
  • Train art teams in use of specific tools and best practices and help enforcing them.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Spoken and written English skills required.
  • Experience using a game engine such as CryEngine, Unity, Unreal UDK, UE4, or other – ideally related to environment art or level creation.
  • Knowledge of node based shader creation tools.
  • Knowledge of Maya or 3D Studio Max or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of revision control systems, such as Perforce.
  • Technical knowledge of real-time graphics used in video games.
  • Shipped at least 1 game title OR comprehensive portfolio demonstrating required skills.

 BONUS SKILLS:

  • Able to speak some Mandarin Chinese.
  • Physically Based Rendering/Shading knowledge.
  • Knowledge of MEL, Python or 3DS Max Script.
