OPMs client is an independent studio based in Bristol working on a sequel to their most recently released title. They are seeking a technical artist to play an essential part in building the internal art processes and guiding asset pipeline implementation in collaboration with the art and programming teams.

The successful candidate will have experience working on shipped titles with a good understanding of art creation pipelines, asset exporting, process automation and relevant industry tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solid understanding of game engines and the technical constraints and challenges of game development.
  • Good experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Robust technical understanding of art pipelines, memory and rendering budgets.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language for example, Python and C++.
  • Keen interest in the latest advancements in graphics and visual trends.
  • Professional experience in the games industry in a similar position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Lead Artist and Technical Lead to define and sustain art workflows.
  • Clearly communicate and document art production pipelines.
  • Shader and Materials research and development.
  • Creation of effects and particle systems.
  • Provide support to artists promoting best working practices and strong asset organisation.
  • Offer suggestions on how to utilise technologies and tools and implement them into their workflow.
  • Liaise with technical team to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.
  • Give clear advice on performance constraints and help define asset budgets.
