Project: AAA Console & PC Games

My client and I are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Technical Animator to work on the development of high-profile self-published AAA projects for Console & PC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for state machine design and implementation, player mechanics, rigging characters and other in-game objects, setting-up and maintaining animation pipelines and facilitating animators and designers to help maximise efficiency in development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating all aspects of your ability
  • Professional experience scripting with Python and/or Mel
  • Understanding of Autodesk animation software such as Maya and MotionBuilder
  • Strong knowledge of character mechanics and animation pipelines and workflows
  • Strong character rigging and skinning ability
  • Enjoying working as part of a team, and able to take feedback and direction suitably, whilst being able to operate independently

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking ownership and maintenance of animation state machines
  • Pushing animation state machine tools and pipeline improvements
  • Driving animation pipelines, and frequently improving them
  • Driving character physics (hair and cloth simulation, as well as ragdoll physics)
  • Aiding in rigging and skinning, as well as character customization setup
  • Collaborate with a multidiscipline team to implement realisation of player mechanics and NPC characters
  • Communicating with content teams to detect workflow issues, spec out the plan to solve them, and then drive that plan to completion
  • Utilising your technical skill to find creative solutions to difficult problems

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Professional experience with C++ would be a big bonus
  • Professional experience working with player mechanics
  • Understanding of in-game character physics including hair and cloth sim and ragdoll
  • Experience with character customization and how to make a functional customization system
