Technical Animator – Brighton, UK – AAA Action Games

Project: AAA Action Games __________________________________________________________________________________

OPMs client is a seeking an experienced Technical Animator to join their talented and expanding team. The successful candidate will join development on a brand new, exciting project and will help ensure the highest level of consistent quality throughout.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of scripting tools in DCC / engine to support the animation pipelines (examples include Python, C#, C++, Lua, MAXScript, MEL)
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Perforce or Git
  • Expertise with one or more digital content creation packages (examples include Maya, Houdini, Blender, 3DSMax, MotionBuilder) and open to learn new ones when required
  • Experience of industry standard game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity
  • Experience working with motion capture data
  • Deep knowledge of an animator’s needs and requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create complex animation state machines and runtime solutions in engine
  • Offer tool support for the animation team
  • Analyse and troubleshoot all aspects of the animation pipeline
  • Collaborate with the animation team on optimisation and performance strategies
  • Be the point of contact between programming and animation disciplines
  • Work in partnership with and share knowledge on latest advancements with other technical experts within the company.
  • Take part in setting vision for content and tools and collaborate with engineers to develop cutting edge tools and technologies.
  • Review / integrate animation solutions or help develop new ones.
  • Guide the animation team on technical issues as they arise.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Previously shipped a AAA title for PC, Console or Mobile
  • Familiarity setting up character ragdolls
