Technical Animation Director – Hybrid, Bordeaux, France – AAA Action RPG

The successful candidate will determine, prepare, and adapt the animation tools used in the production. They will train the animators on the selected tools and methods and supervise the integration of animation into the game engine.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience as a Technical Animator or Technical Animation Director.
• Good knowledge of real-time animation systems and video games.
• Experience with Motion Builder and Maya.
• Previous experience with Motion Capture.
• Ability to keep up with industry developments and trends while adapting where necessary.
• A good knowledge of the video games industry and a player-orientated vision.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Participate in technical and game design meetings.
• Work alongside programmers to define the implementation of tools and features.
• Test the selected/developed engine, request improvements, check all related documentation and correct if necessary.
• Test the tools before their deployment and ensure that they work correctly throughout the production process.
• Create, organise, and carry out training sessions.
• Produce documents on tools, methods, training sessions, processes and engine constraints.
• Coordinate and act as a point of contact between the animation and programming teams;
• Provide constant technical support for the tools and the engine to each member of the animation team.
• Oversee the design, integration, and validation of game animations and cutscenes into the engine animation pipeline.
