Senior Technical Artist – North West, UK – VR Games

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join an ambitious new studio to create original games exclusively for a new VR platform. Based in the North West of England, the studio aim to build a small but highly experienced team who want to build great games to showcase this exciting new immersive technology.

Requirements:

  • Have shipped at least 2 successful games in technical art roles.
  • Be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of form, colour and composition.
  • You will enjoy the technical challenge and constraints of real-time game art and have a detailed understanding of modern rendering, shading and lighting techniques.
  • Experience using Maya, Z-Brush, Photoshop, Python scripting.
  • Knowledge of the Maya API and programming in C++ or C# will be an advantage.
  • Experience using Unreal Engine will be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director, Lead Artist and Graphics Programmers to ensure the agreed visual direction can be delivered within technical constraints.
  • Create clear, efficient technical specifications for all art assets that ensure the game runs consistently at 60fps.
  • Create assets which demonstrate how to achieve the agreed technical specification
  • Devise tools, techniques and workflows that allow the art team and out-sourcing partners to deliver exceptional visual quality, quickly and easily.
  • Review assets against the agreed technical specification and provide feedback to the art team.
