Senior Server Programmer- AAA Games- Nottingham

Our client builds ground-breaking games and content for some of the world’s biggest publishers including Microsoft, Sony, Apple and Sega.

They are seeking a talented server programmer to help define and develop the server software stack, databases and processes for an upcoming multi-platform title.

As a Senior Server Programmer, you will be responsible for the day to day development of server-based game features for a new multi-platform game title.  You will use your knowledge and experience of cloud-based technologies, databases and web services to help build server systems from the ground up to meet the game’s needs.  You will work with designers and programmers to specify and design these systems.  You will then prototype and develop those systems alongside other programmers as the game progresses.  You will be responsible for agreeing your own timescales and deadlines with the lead engineer and production team.

To be successful you will have:

• Experience of developing medium to large scale server systems.
• Experience designing and developing web and messaging APIs (e.g. REST, MQ).
• Knowledge of tools and technologies used to package and deploy server systems.
• Knowledge of common cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• At least 1 shipped title with experience of server implementation.

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Good time management and self-motivation skills.
• Ability to take direction and criticism.
• Knowledge of source control and asset management tools.
