Senior Game Designer (Mechanics) – VR Games – Netherlands

OPM’s client, a VR Game Development Studio, is currently recruiting for a Senior Game Designer to join their team in The Netherlands.

Are you looking to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, using your rapid prototyping skills and mechanics design know-how to create groundbreaking games and experiences in VR? Do you know when to abandon, and when to iterate, until an interaction is intuitive and delightful? Do you want to break some design rules? Then our client is looking for you!

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of a feature’s design, acting as a partner in creative lead’s vision
• Validate the design by rapidly prototyping mechanics in working software
• Iterate on the prototype in search of a high-quality user experience
• Assist the design lead in the planning of tasks, and managing the output junior team members
• Contribute toward the project’s knowledge base and improve the tools and workflow

Requirements:

• At least 2 complete development cycles as a Game Designer, on character action console/PC titles
• UE4 BP Mastery (or similar visual scripting competency)
• Basic 3d modelling skills and an ability to mockup VFX and AFX
• Clear, concise, communication; in English, both written and verbal
• Owned a feature’s design throughout development, from concept to product
• Have mentored one or more junior team member in their development and output
• Ideally have experience of development for VR
