Senior BackEnd Engineer – Games – London

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to come join them working on distributed systems and infrastructure at MMO scale. They are looking for an individual with strong programming skills and a DevOps mindset, to join a highly motivated team of developers, working to build a world-class backend system.

They have a strong focus on quality and operability, and are applying principles of Domain Driven Design, Event Driven Architecture, and DevSecOps throughout their systems. They are a small team in the early stages of development, so this is a unique opportunity to have a large impact.

Your tasks:

• Responsible for taking a proactive role in the design and development of backend systems and infrastructure based upon design and technical requirements
• Responsible for continually evaluating best practises, standards and technology choices with the team
• Responsible for ensuring the stability and scalability of backend systems
• Responsible collaboration with colleagues of various disciplines on shared tasks

Your profile:

• Experience developing and maintaining distributed systems at a large scale
• Highly Proficient at programming backend systems in a relevant language such as Go, Java, or Python
• Proficient at building secure, highly available, and scalable cloud infrastructure

Desirable Experience

• A strong focus on continuous delivery and code quality
• Experience designing and building event driven architectures (DDD, async communication, event sourcing, CQRS)
• Have written production backend systems using Go
• Experience using the core AWS services (EC2, VPC, Route53, IAM) with IaC tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
• Experience using container technologies (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)
