Senior Audio Designer – Racing Games – Midlands, UK – Permanent

Our AAA client is looking for a Senior Audio Designer to use their substantial experience to design and implement audio to the required standard for one or more specific projects and assist in agreeing timescales with the line manager. Additionally, coaching and mentoring other audio personnel within the team in creative and technical audio techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Drive and encourage good communication & coordination between the audio team and other parts of the team (art, programming, level design, design & production)
• Demonstrate a strong creative influence and take an active interest in each of the audio areas of a project and within the wider audio team
• Working from requirements delegated by line manager, develop a detailed specification of all audio elements to be signed off by line manager, for creation and implementation
• Working with the agreed specification develop a schedule, in conjunction with the line manager, for creation and implementation
• Identify and report additional tasks over and above the delegated work, that will aid the projects audio quality and/or schedule
• Working from agreed specification and schedule, source, create, process & implement AAA quality sound effects to project specification. Identify the most appropriate and efficient method of gathering the effects within an agreed timescale and budget
• Establish best practices and prototyping goals (working with Lead Audio Designer) to identify and target production problems
• To liaise with Lead Audio Designer regarding ownership and responsibility for speech assets, including all localisation & music deliverables within agreed timescales and budget
• Regularly report progress to Line Manager and notify them of any changes arising in agreed specification and schedule. Inform them of any implementation issues and suggest solutions promptly
• Accountable for execution of multiple features and one major aspect of the sound-scape, or project. May be focused on specific areas of game-audio direction

Requirements:

• Basic audio qualification
• Extensive games industry experience including two AAA games
• Basic level of management and project planning experience
• Mentoring ability in a specialist audio area
• Able to problem solve audio design issues
• A high level of multi-platform game audio experience
• Good all round audio knowledge
