Release Engineer – Games – Contract – Good Day Rates

Location: Twycross, UK Salary: Negotiable

Job ID: # Posted: 3 years ago

Working at this studio: Here is what our client has to say:

“As an Engineer here, you’ll tackle tough problems with little guidance and will help to set the direction of the group you’re working with. We don’t really do that whole ‘estimates, schedules and Project Managers’ thing, and that means you’ll need to be comfortable with helping us figure out what the best thing is we should all be doing right now. We promise you’ll have access to a range of challenges that will test and broaden your experience. But most of all, you’ll be part of a team of friendly, highly talented developers who like nothing better than sharing their own challenges and their expertise with you.”

These are the kind of things we’ll be asking you to do when you’re here:

  • Enable developers and artists to iterate locally as fast as possible.
  • Help us to provide a world class development environment, a scalable deployment pipeline and robust infrastructure that enable the company to develop, experiment and deliver high quality features quickly and with confidence.
  • Solve the complex problems and challenges inherent in developing AAA games at scale without sacrificing stability, quality or velocity.
  • Help us transition some or all of our deployment pipeline off-premises.

And this is what we’d like you to be able to do up-front:

  • Show us that you have rock solid software design, programming and debugging skills in, possibly, a range of languages.
  • Be enthusiastic about modern development techniques and be demonstrably keen to apply them to games. We’re kind of test freaks; you have been warned…
  • We’re passionate about learning and improving both ourselves and everything about the Studio as a whole. We’ll want you to be the same and to get involved with helping us enhance our culture.
  • Love the challenge of doing hard things, and in particular enjoy developing simple tools and processes to enable everyone to be able to do those hard things too.
  • Be level headed and value-focussed, so as to prioritise conflicting requests.
  • We expect you to have experience in at least one of these areas:
    • Implementing and maintaining Continuous Integration systems
    • Software configuration management tools
    • Version control system
    • Monitoring systems
    • Virtualisation

In return they offer competitive Day Rates and the chance to contribute to one of the UK’s most celebrated games development studios.
