QA Team Leader – Central London – Games

My client, a leading AAA developer & publisher provides a wide range of services that help the global game development community to create world-class games.  These services include technical support, research and development and consultancy.


The Test and Release team provides services to development teams within Europe and further afield, which includes tools, libraries and sample code.


Working with the development teams and product specifications, you will develop test cases in C / C++ to validate project requirements and verify software quality for the duration of the development lifecycle or sprints. You will strive to improve the SDK or tools through execution of tests and resolution of defects. You will report results to the Development Lead and Test Manager.


You will need to be a strong team player, but be able act independently, professionally and proactively. You should be quick to learn new skills, use initiative and be eager to embrace new challenges and responsibilities.  Since you will be working with multiple teams, excellent communication skills are a must.


Required Technical Skills:


  • Experience of leading a team; setting goals, reviewing code changes, mitigating conflicts, supporting the hiring of staff,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent C / C++ skills and structured programming techniques
  • Experience of writing test cases for APIs and console applications
  • Knowledge of source control systems, bug reporting software & project tracking software (such as Perforce/GitHub, Bugzilla and Hansoft/Confluence)
  • Experience in testing of tools or systems
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong problem solving skills


Advantageous Technical Skills:


  • Computer Science or Engineering Degree – 1st or 2:1 or further postgraduate qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience of Agile, Waterfall and similar development methodologies
  • Knowledge or experience in Lua, C#, Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and support tools
  • Games development background – especially in console development
  • Experience in using testing frameworks such as CppUnit
  • Experience in test automation
  • 3D Graphics, Audio, Network or Client-Server programming experience
