Our client is a UK-based, full-service independent publisher and developer of interactive digital entertainment, who are currently working on a variety of well-established IPs.
They are seeking an experienced QA Manager to lead their UK and Malaysian teams of QA Testers, Engineers and Leads
This is a full-time position based in Middlesbrough, however, can be on-boarded remotely initially due to COVID. They will provide you with everything needed to join remotely whether you will need to relocate to the UK (or within the UK) now, or later.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Understanding of project delivery methodologies such as Lean, Agile and Waterfall
- Analytical mindset, with meticulous attention to detail
- Great mathematical ability
- Professional experience with test automation tools
- Understanding of current trends and latest innovations in tools and techniques
- Superb communication skills, verbal and written
- Professional experience leading QA teams in an extremely technical environment
- Experience improving business processes and systems to streamline processes and reduce costs
- Professional experience with quality assurance KPIs
- Specialist knowledge of all phases of the testing life cycle and relevant software
- Experience planning and delivering high quality QA to a technology focused SME
- Experience partnering with large scale external companies, combining your work successfully with theirs
- Experience with a range of project management and reporting tools
DESIRED SKILLS (beneficial to have):
- Passionate about gaming and the games industry
- Experience in a DevOps environment
- Experience with maintaining code quality and experience with code analysers
- Experience with coding Automated Tests using one or more automation tools including Appium, gamedriver.io, Selenium, REST-assured, ChroPath, Microsoft Playwright
- Degree(s) or qualification(s) in software engineering or equivalent experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and own the strategy for the QA team
- Ensure all projects are quality managed to the highest standard on schedule and on budget
- Responsibility for designing, managing, and monitoring their company testing life cycle; requirements analysis, test planning, test case development, test environment setup, execution, and closure
- Ownership and accountability for metrics to assess game software quality
- Assess costs and requirements for new projects
- Line management of departmental leads
- Owning the career progression routes for members of the quality assurance team, establishing new opportunities outside of manual testing
- Mentor and develop their leaders and testers as necessary within the QA team
- Ownership of the roadmap for tools and techniques used in QA
- Initiate, design, and project manage the development of tools, automated tests, and processes
- Planning in conjunction with other disciplines such as Production, Development, Art, and Audio
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to plan and resource projects suitably
- Regular reporting on progress against plan, QA performance and quality
- Design assessments, selection criteria and conduct interviews for quality assurance testers, engineers and leads
