The Game Producer’s main responsibility is to manage the game project and deliver it on time, on budget and to quality. This means ensuring to keep an updated overview of all the tasks for different disciplines and teams, including the backlog, progress towards future milestones and making sure the status of all tasks is accurately represented in the tracking tool. The purpose of this is to have an accurate picture of the state of the project at all times. If done right, this will allow us to know well in advance if there are any risks and whether or not we are on track to meet deadlines, thereby giving us time to make adjustments to the plan and schedule if needed.

For this role specifically, our client is looking for someone who is familiar with running a development team and understands the challenges of collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment and the importance of proper task assigning, time tracking and risk management. Leading the team, scheduling milestones and ensuring the team is both happy and well-informed, are also critical elements of being a producer.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling & Planning: ?Updating milestone plans and road-maps
  • Reporting?: follow ups and takeaways from important meetings; weekly reports to key stakeholders like the EP, CEO and the management team.
  • Internal information sharing?: make sure everybody has the information they need to do their jobs.

The Game Producer reports to the Executive Producer, and both have the responsibility to keep each other in the loop regarding critical information and developments. Together, they share responsibility for several areas:

  • Staffing?: headcount, recruitment, overtime & sick leave tracking
  • Communication?: Run meetings, respond to inquiries about the project,
  • Documentation: ?ongoing work on documenting our processes, make sure our documents for the stakeholders are kept up to date

The Game Producer also is the main point of contact on project related queries from stakeholders, directors and the management team.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a producer or associate producer in a game development team
  • Passionate gamer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well organized and with a high level of personal productivity.
  • Knowledgeable in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of games and games development.

Pluses:

  • Skilled in the use of JIRA
  • In-depth knowledge of one of the main development disciplines: Art, Design, Code or Audio
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine
  • Shipped a game on console and/or PC
  • Experience managing staff
