The Game Producer works closely with the Production Director and Production Team to ensure the successful and timely delivery of projects.

 

They are a hard-working and confident professional, with exceptional communication and reporting skills; able to clearly translate the vision of key project stakeholders into actionable tasks and create effective pipelines between studio departments and, where applicable, external partners.

 

They are instrumental in, providing assistance to team leads with the planning, prioritisation and assignment of work. The Game Producer will be responsible for the planning and delivery of certain game features and team portfolios; working closely with all members of the relevant feature teams/departments to identify dependencies, determine solutions and calculate any consequent economic impact at team, departmental or project level to facilitate the necessary decisions being made by the Production Director and/or project leads.

 

They are comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and are extremely proactive; helping teams to identify and prevent potential roadblocks, as well as any other issues that may prove detrimental to a project.

 

They understand the importance of quality assurance and create and/or adapt process to ensure effective delivery of all project elements with such associated requirements and the available testing provisions in mind.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Milestone Planning
  • Assist with the co-ordination of high-level planning; collating and reporting key data, participating in and facilitating associated meetings and retrospectives at both team and project level.
  • Scheduling and Task Planning
  • Work closely with the Production Team to create, prioritise and maintain the project development schedule.
  • Progress Tracking and Backlog Maintenance
  • Proactively track tasks in progress and assist task owners with the resolution of roadblocks and the identification of any subsequently required steps and/or establishment of communication channels to prevent unforeseen impact on other tasks, team members and/or departments; ensuring the project backlog is always an accurate and up-to-date reflection of the same.
  • Dependencies
  • Clearly identify cross-function and/or cross-team dependencies, ensuring mitigation or integration of any consequent additional tasks within the wider development plan.
  • Risk Management
  • Identify and raise awareness of areas of risk as early as possible; working closing with the relevant team/project members to create solutions on a short-term basis and implement any necessary preventative measures on a long-term basis.
  • Pipelines and Workflows
  • Work closely with the Production Team in the review, amendment and development of pipelines and workflows with subject-matter experts in accordance with the specific needs of the project to maximise production rates, aid predictive planning, prevent scope creep and ensure mutual understanding in relation to the creation and implementation of content.
  • Outsource Management
  • Assist the relevant lead in the management of any outsourced work; tracking task progress and updating associated backlog items, ensuring evaluation of quality, key decisions, outcomes and deliverables, as well as any potential impact of the same on the current and future tasks of internal departments.
  • People Management
  • Play an active, supportive and motivational role in the project team; help to provide and create any tools they need to undertake there work effectively, whilst encouraging self-management and an outcomes-focused environment.
  • Dev/QA Liaison and QA Management
  • Assess and adapt to the needs for each individual project; working closely with the Production Director to identify any tailored and/or resource needs. Act as a key contact for the QA lead (either internal or external) and assist with any associated requirements, including the allocation and prioritisation planning of any consequent work for project departments.
  • Communication and Reporting
  • Effectively communicate and report task and/or project progress to all key stakeholders as required, both systematically and reactively, and provide assistance with cross-departmental communication as necessary.
  • Project Documentation
  • Work closely with departments to ensure the creation and maintenance of key, multi-purpose, design documentation; with a focus of avoiding the duplication of work and incorrect implementation, and the facilitation of any connected subsequent work and/or processes which may be required.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Game Producer
  • At a minimum, experience of one full development cycle (from pre-production to shipped title on PC/Console)
  • A solid understanding of game development, video game technologies and the key phases of the development process
  • Outstanding communication, people, organisational and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with agile project management processes (experience of other methodologies is also desirable)
  • Experience in the development of workflows and pipelines
  • Experience of using and creating project management tracking tools
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of MS Office; highly skilled in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Genuine passion for games
