Principal Economy Game Designer – AAA Games – Midlands or North West, UK – Permanent

OPM’s client, a successful developer of award-winning racing games, is currently looking for a Principal Economy Game Designer to join their growing team in the Midlands or North West of the UK.

Working in a passionate close-knit team that ensures your voice doesn’t get lost in the crowd, you will deliver AAA racing games within a studio that will value and recognise your contributions.

Responsibilities:

• Take overall ownership of the game’s economy system ensuring the system is balanced and has player orientated logic
• Create concept documents, user flow diagrams and prototypes to try out different economy models and ideas
• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written form to all levels within the organisation
• Represent the game in company meetings and events, including attending trade shows, graduation fares, and any other proceedings deemed necessary by senior management
• Iterate with the team on the game’s economy system and functionality (menu’s, flow, etc.)
• Effectively lead and mentor the team

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in a high senior or lead game economy role with several shipped titles your name
• Have experience from concept to shipping of an economy within a game
• Show awareness of different game economies and trends
• Inspire and mentor the design teams as required
• Possess analytical skills

Desirable Skills:

• Show an interest in psychology, user behaviour and cognitive science
• Ideally have experience developing and working with UX and meta game design and strategy stakeholders
