Physics Programmer – AAA Game Studio – North West UK

OPM have partnered with a major AAA Games Developer with studios in both Europe and North America. The most recent expansion of the group now boasts a studio in the North of the UK.

They are known for the high quality of their programming team and as such you would be working with some of the very best in the industry.

OPM’s client is looking for a talented Physics Programmer to join development on their upcoming title.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluent in programming with C/C++.
  • Professional experience authoring and extending physics systems for a shipped AAA game for current generation consoles or PC.
  • Professional experience working with game physics in a multiplayer game.
  • Professional experience with industry standard Physics engines like PhysX or Havok.
  • Experience with low level optimisations, performance profiling, and fixing stability issues.
  • Great multi-threaded programming skills.
  • Dedication to code and APIs clarity.
  • Excellent math skills including linear algebra, matrix/quaternion math.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Capable of understanding problems from a game design perspective.
  • Passionate about gaming and games development.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • You will be working with designers, artists, and programmers from several departments to help them understand and use physics to its best ability.
  • You will be developing new and maintaining existing physics systems, ensuring performance, ease of use, and extendibility.

DESIRED SKILLS (good to have):

  • Degree(s) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar.
  • Experience with systems simulations such as water, wind, vehicles.
  • Experience with cloth simulation.
  • Experience with SIMD programming.
