OPM are pleased to be working with this client who are pushing the boundaries of VR and AR development. With offices in 10 different countries.

You will be a part of the creation of a first-ever VR/AR World of Science and Technology experience; a collaborative Virtual and Augmented Reality gaming platform between industry leading scientists and universities for one of the world’s biggest industries. If you are interested in pushing the boundaries of VR and AR through Science and Technology with a gamification element, this may be the opportunity for you!

They are seeking a full-time Network Programmer (VR) to join their dedicated team. They need your expertise in creating fun and engaging multiplayer systems to thrill a whole new audience of scientists and believe that VR and AR are the future of scientific research and education and would like you to be a part of the future.

This companies laboratory, as well as the analytical and processing divisions, currently have around 900 employees, and continue to offer a wide range of innovative equipment for numerous applications in research and development, as they have for over 100 years. Worldwide market leaders trust in their proven technology.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement solutions to synchronize gameplay
  • Analyse and optimize bandwidth usage and latency effects
  • Develop highly scalable, secure and available connectivity services
  • Create clear documentation to transfer knowledge and simplify maintenance
  • Cooperate closely with gameplay programmers to ensure multiplayer compatibility
  • Recognize opportunities to improve the application or general workflows, and seek to make these changes

 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven Professional C/C++ experience
  • Professional experience in client-server programming related to video games
  • Experience in IP network protocols (TCP and UDP)
  • Experience in database development (MySQL, Oracle, …)
  • Experience with replication, arbitration, bandwidth, load balancing and multiplayer concepts
  • Experience with 3D game engines
  • Self-sufficiency
  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a similar discipline (i.e. Physics, Math, EE, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

 

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Unreal Engine experience
  • Experience in implementing VoIP
  • Experience working on a MMO
  • Shipped console/PC title experience
  • VR and/or AR experience as a developer or user

• Familiar with: JSON, XML, JavaScript, and/or Python
