Look Dev Technical Artist – Multiplayer Games – Dublin, Ireland

OPM's client is a fully independent game studio based in the beautiful city of Dublin. They are making an exciting new Multiplayer game from the ground up.

They're looking for a Look Dev Technical Artist who wants to be part of the core foundation of their studio. Someone who is passionate about being part of an early tight-knit team, laser-focused on creating a game from the ground up.

The ideal candidate's speciality would be lighting and shading. They'd love too geek out over concepts like micro surfaces, subsurface scattering, ray tracing, global illumination, etc.

They will partner with our engineering team to drive our graphics technology, and they will partner with artists to achieve the art look and help make it the game run at over 60 frames per second. They will help us migrate CPU processes to the GPU and help profile our game.


  • Strong artistic skills.
  • Experience and understanding of modelling, texturing, animation, and lighting for games.
  • Proficient in working with profiling tools to examine and diagnose performance issues.
  • Accomplished in one or more of the following DCC applications: Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, zBrush, Houdini, 3DsMax
  • Strong technical problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, C++, or HLS


  • Professional experience writing shaders in HLSL/GLSL.
  • Prior Experience in authoring and maintaining large libraries in Python, C++, or C#.
  • A working history of developing lighting modules for 3D applications.


  • Supporting the development of Real-Time rendering workflow.
  • Supporting the vision and long-term planning for Look Development.
  • Setting up strategies for optimising runtime performance without sacrificing artistic integrity.
  • Developing libraries of materials, textures, and lighting scenarios.
  • Establishing and helping to enforce optimal lighting, shading, and texturing best practices.
  • Collaborating with Engineers and Technical Artists to further the state of our development tools.
  • Bridging communication between Art, Design, Engineering, and Production.
