Level Designer – AAA Games – South East, UK – Permanent

OPM’s client, a popular developer of console, PC and mobile games, is currently looking for a Technical Designer an experienced Level Designer to join their team in Oxford, UK. You will be passionate about creating and implementing gameplay experiences and the environments they take place in. You will be self-driven and talented, with a genuine interest in playing games of all types.

Responsibilities: 

• Primary creative responsibility for the design and execution of one or more game levels
• Implementation of gameplay using in-house engine tools
• Implementation and development of existing missions/levels
• Work to a functional brief, within technical constraints
• Iteratively balance and fine tune game play
• Ensure feedback (from design leads, user testing or QA) is assessed and incorporated into the design where appropriate
• Understand and work within project requirements and constraints

Requirements:

• Games industry design experience, or equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of game editors and scripting tools
• Strong 3d white-boxing skills
• Good understanding of game design fundamentals
• Responsive to deadlines and works well under pressure
• Collaborates productively within a multi-disciplined team environment, including artists and coders
