OPM are working with a brand-new client looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic and self-motivated Lead Programmer to join their Brighton-based team working on an exciting new unannounced project.

As a Lead Programmer you are vital to the development of their studio, becoming a champion for the technical capabilities of their studio, leading the development team to reach greater heights.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent proficiency programming in C++.
  • Solid industry experience having shipped at least two recent AAA titles.
  • Knowledge of industry standard development practices: source control, asset pipelines, issue tracking, external QA and localisation teams.
  • Experience with post-launch and on-going product development and delivery.
  • Continuous integration and build automation experience.
  • Worked in an Agile development environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the programming team, passing on experience and expertise and leads by example.
  • Develops technical design specifications for complex projects and implements them.
  • Designs, develops, writes, tests and implements systems and game code.
  • Works with designers, artists and other departments as required to create the highest possible quality product.
  • Test and refine gameplay features throughout the development cycle of the project.
  • Mentor and conduct regular one to ones with the project engineering team.
  • Deliver high quality code on schedule.
  • Performs code reviews with the team to ensure quality.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with art packages and pipeline development.
  • Knowledge of low-level optimisation, shader programming, physics or mathematics.
  • Understanding of cloud server and network backend systems.
