As Ireland’s largest games developer and the creator of free-to-play strategy MMO games. Their first game, has grossed well into the seven figures since launching. They are now developing the second title, based on a phenomenal IP, launching in 2017.

They are now looking for Lead Online Services Engineer to join the team. Your responsibilities would include leading the team that implements scalable systems and tools that empower other teams to create new and exciting gameplay experiences, and continuously finding ways to improve and extend their game services technology. They are aiming to become the best platform for game developers, data analysts and game operators.

Here’s a taste of what you will be doing:

  • Lead and manage the Live Ops / Platform development team.
  • Work closely with the Platform Technical Director and the product team, defining and implementing key technical goals as well as goals and concepts to bring teams to the next level.
  • Design the architecture and implement server side logic and integrations while leading the technical direction of their product.
  • Mentor a team of highly technical and motivated full-stack engineers.
  • Jump in to help the teams with troubleshooting and research of technical solutions.


Required experience includes the following:

  • Experience of solid technical leadership of an experienced engineering team.
  • A proactive and caring mindset.
  • Broad knowledge of different architectures and how they fit or not for specific goals (e.g. best CPU performance, efficient data storage or code understandability etc.).
  • Pragmatic and sustainable approach to programming and creating extensible and maintainable high performance, low-latency code.
  • Full stack web development experience (e.g. HTML, JS, CSS).
  • Excellent Python coding ability and knowledge of online web technologies.
  • Experienced with Flask, Tornado, Websockets, RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS, Docker, Terraform.
  • Solid experience with at least another language than Python (e.g. Java, C#, C, C++, F#, Scala, Go).
  • Experience working with AWS and Docker.


While not mandatory, below are some nice to have’s:

  • Previous experience on an MMO = bonus points.
  • An interest in open source technologies and the community.
  • Experience in mentoring.
  • Low-level networking & network-protocols experience.
  • Experience with Unity, or C# is a bonus.
