Lead Lighting Artist – AAA Action – Uppsala, Sweden

One Player Mission’s client is a Swedish game studio comprised of a seasoned group of developers recognised for their work creating story-driven games.

Boasting an impressive back catalogue of action-packed console and PC games, which have won numerous awards and reached both commercial and critical acclaim.

They’re now looking to strengthen the team, looking for a Lead Lighting Artist to join them and help bring the projects to new levels!

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist the Art Director in executing the visual vision in relation to lighting for the project and assume creative ownership when delegated by Art Director.
• Lead and drive lighting initiatives within the lighting team and collaborate with other departments to develop and implement high quality and performant content.
• Participate in developing standards and techniques for both gameplay and cinematic lighting.
• Troubleshoot creative and technical issues related to lighting as they arise. Debug and fix lighting bugs and communicate/document solutions.
• Ensure high quality lighting is made correctly, visually and technically.
• Own and define ways to perform WIP reviews and signoff.
• Responsible for ensuring art pipelines and workflow processes are clearly defined and followed for all lighting work.
• Create, communicate, and follow up on technical standards in collaboration with the programmer and technical leads.
• Participate in developing standards and techniques for both gameplay and cinematic lighting.

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Have extensive experience from a leading role in a AAA game development studio.
• Have participated in and led (at least some pieces of) a whole AAA game development cycle.
• Have extensive experience within the field of lighting and colour theory.
• In-depth knowledge of colour grading, HDR, and other post process effects
• Expert skills within applicable software, procedures, and methodology.
• Great experience with photo realistic lighting.
• Excellent knowledge of PBR materials.
• Excellent communication skills in English – both written and oral.
