Lead Level Designer – AAA Games – Sweden – Permanent

My client is an independent creator, publisher and distributor of high quality entertainment products with a core focus on gameplay. With over 15 years of operating in the games industry, they now have offices across Europe and in the US they have over 100 people working for them who are set to develop truly immersive VR experiences and are looking for a Lead Level Designer to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Level Design team
  • Plan the design and implement the levels of the game, from concept through implementation to a shippable completion
  • Collaborate with Producers and Level Designer to ensure the overall vision of the project is properly implemented in the game levels
  • You will be involved in all steps of the level production (from initial layout and prototyping to final gameplay implementation and optimization)
  • Work within the standards set for all level asset creation within the production pipeline
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Level Design team and other disciplines to maintain high quality levels
  • Contribute in meetings dealing with technical issues or tools related to all Design aspects
  • Attend and/or lead level design specific discussions regarding design reviews and identify potential issues
  • Maintain and prioritize backlogs and polish lists for owned areas of the game

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in the game industry as a Level Designer and shipped at least two AAA titles
  • Proven record of designing in game elements
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D modelling software, 3D editors, processes and 2D tools to create 2D maps
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills and able to convey abstract concepts
  • Logical approach with a strong level of attention to detail
  • Professional communication and interaction with other members of the game production team (both internally and externally) while still keeping the overall vision of the game in mind
  • Creative, critical and analytical approach to your work
  • Open-minded, adapt to feedback and understand iterative processes
