Project: AAA Narrative Adventure Game

This UK developer is rapidly growing with many high-end games in development across multiple genres! We are looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator to build, lead and light the way for a new gameplay animation team, on a dark, story-driven next generation Narrative Adventure game.

With a focus on character development that delivers distinct performance, heightens player immersion, and sets a new bar for gameplay character animation, this ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling and narrative, into ground-breaking territory on next-gen technology.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Animator on at least one shipped PC or console title.
  • A good balance of artistic and technical expertise.
  • An openness to new gameplay methods and techniques.
  • An excellent eye for improving animation and animator capabilities.
  • Understanding of animation for game design and an ability to adopt different animation styles.
  • Thorough knowledge of Maya and Motion Builder animation toolkits.
  • Experience working with motion capture data and relevant pipelines.
  • Previous experience with Unreal Engine or a proprietary engine.
  • Experience of people management, skills development and mentoring.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Animation Director, Technical Animation Lead and Narrative Director to deliver best-in-class animation.
  • Develop and adapt existing gameplay animation systems, workflows and methods.
  • Be an active partner in the integration of Gameplay Animation with Cinematic Animation.
  • Help drive the development of character / non-character rigs and the animation pipeline.
  • Ensure that the work of the team follows artistic direction and meets the quality standards.
  • Ensure realistic, achievable time-estimates for all tasks and meeting our established deadlines.
  • Identify shortfalls in skills and support ongoing recruitment efforts to grow the Animation team.
