Lead Environment Artist – Console Games – Remote, UK

One Player Missions client is looking for a Lead Environment Artist to join their game development team. They have a rich history of producing iconic games with beloved brands with a focus on storytelling, creativity, and innovation.

The successful candidate will lead the Environment art team, conceptualising and creating environmental artwork that achieves the production and quality goals set for projects. They will work closely with various teams, including Designers, Programmers, and Producers, and will take creative leadership in inspiring the Environment Art team to work to their fullest potential.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop, and UE4/5 or equivalent engine.
• Strong demonstration of skills through CV/Showreel/Website or Art Tests.
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Practical and methodical approach to both technical and creative problem-solving.
• Comprehensive knowledge of content creation pipeline (modelling, UV, texturing, lighting, and Shaders).
• Flexibility with the ability to adapt to change.
• Experience in a multi-platform, multi-project environment.
• Experience with source control programs like Perforce & SVN and tracking tools like JIRA & Confluence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of environment artists in creating, placing, and lighting environmental assets.
• Attend work reviews and provide relevant feedback.
• Possess a strong knowledge of the production pipeline and recommend improvements.
• Mentor and guide other artists, improving team knowledge and performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends, techniques, and software.
• Regularly review employee performance through appraisals and provide feedback.
• Assist in recruiting new employees and reviewing their probationary periods in conjunction with senior art personnel.
• Undertake relevant on-the-job training when required.
