Project: PC/Console Multiplayer Games


Located in the London borough of Bromley, our client is all about crafting the world's most engaging multiplayer experiences. They are growing the studio for exciting new unannounced projects on PC and console and are looking for a talented and passionate Lead Backend Engineer to help create them.

To ensure the safety of their staff moving forward, all their employees are now using a work from home model during the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK, and this will continue for the foreseeable future.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solid leadership skills, a positive attitude and team-first mentality. Able to give effective direction and feedback and can cultivate professional growth.
  • Solid practical knowledge of distributed systems and scalable architecture fundamentals including performance, consistency, communication models, etc.
  • Professional experience building, deploying and operating services at scale.
  • Good experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure automation.
  • Good knowledge of Linux fundamentals.
  • Professional experience developing online services using modern best practises.
  • Professional experience with the security aspects of online services.
  • Professional experience with REST services.
  • Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing technical leadership, architectural guidance and mentoring for the backend team.
  • Collaborating with game feature teams, but also with other disciplines such as design, gameplay, and UI, to produce online services to push game features such as progression, inventories, purchasing, customer support and many more.
  • Responsibility over the flexibility, reliability, performance, and efficiency of their backend related services, with a focus on scalability.
