OPM’s client is a prestigious UK developer with an impressive back catalogue of action-packed Console and PC Games, which have won numerous awards and reached both commercial and critical acclaim.

They are seeking an experienced Lead Animator who is ready for the challenge of producing a AAA title on the next generation platforms.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent and proven ability leading a team of animators on a AAA project.
• Remarkable eye for detail.
• Outstanding communication skills, and capable of influencing and motivating members.
• Able to work well on your own to build ideas, vision, and direction for the team, alongside working as part of the larger team.
• Self-motivated to learn new techniques and methods.
• Solid ability of writing clear, detailed documentation.
• Strong demonstrable background in animation.
• Keen desire to execute high quality facial animations.
• Passionate about developing games.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with the Animation Director to Lead the Gameplay Animation teams.
• Coordinate with key members of staff and other departments, to detect workflow issues and potential requirements.
• Responsible for working with the production team to establish roadmaps for the Gameplay Animation teams, delivering across the phases of the project.
• Oversee the Gameplay Animation backlogs, bugs and risks in an effective manner, to ensure smooth running of the department throughout the project.
• Manage and operate the outsource plans for Animation, when required.
• Meet production goals, be flexible and have clear strategies for times of change.
• Be a point of contact for all communication in and out of gameplay Animation.
• Manage the creation and maintenance of all relevant documentation for the project.
• Interview and hire members of staff when staffing plans need addressing.
• Professionally represent the Animation department in-house or externally.
• Responsible for managing and developing the individuals within the Gameplay Animation team.
• Ensure high morale of the Gameplay Animation teams.
• Devote a portion of time to produce content for the game.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Professional experience with Unreal Engine 4.
• Strong professional experience of Motion Builder.
• Thorough working methods and being well organised.
• Solid working practices in Excel, JIRA, Confluence, Slack and Shotgun.
• Working knowledge of 3DSMax.
• Professional experience leading & managing external teams.
