Project: AAA Multi-platform Games

OPM’s client is a critically acclaimed development studio seeking a talented and versatile Houdini Technical Artist to join development at the pre-production stage of their latest open-world multiplayer game involving a well-known IP.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Director, Art Director, and production artists to create procedural world building tools that enable artists to efficiently iterate on, translating into a spectacular open world environment.


  • Create tools, assets and pipelines in Houdini that seamlessly integrate within Unreal Engine 4 for next-generation platforms.
  • Be at the centre of their R&D endeavours throughout the pre-production process.
  • Design and build upon new processes that help reach their objectives.
  • Helping to standardise workflows, pipelines and other tools artists use outside of the engine, such as Substance, 3Ds Max etc.


A strong portfolio that demonstrates the key areas listed below:

  • Strong experience in a similar technical role, having shipped at least one game
  • Extensive expertise with Houdini asset and tool development for game engines
  • Demonstrable experience using systems to procedurally create and populate dynamic assets for landscapes and other world building and asset tools
  • Knowledge of and able to comfortably use VEX and Python
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems and build suitable solutions
  • Demonstrable experience pinpointing and pushing performance targets and optimisations for open world development on consoles and PCs
  • Strong communication skills and drive to deliver consistently on time

DESIRED SKILLS (good to have):

  • Production experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience utilising 3Ds Max, Maya, and Substance suite
  • Superb understanding of real-time rendering techniques and various PBR workflows
  • Familiarity with graphics programming
