This vacancy offers a Remote Start from in the UK until it is safe to work in-house on a full / part time basis.

Our client is a well-established independent developer who has been a staple in the UK games industry for the past two decades. They have a rich portfolio of iconic IP and many commercially successful games. They are now looking for a Head of Animation to lead their expanding in-house animation teams working across all projects and studios!

Your leadership qualities will shape the animation department. Working with the heads of Design, Code and Art you’ll define the requirements for animations across all projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience as an Animation Director, Supervisor or Lead Animator focused on leading teams
  • Extensive industry experience with shipped games
  • Background with motion capture techniques and software such as MotionBuilder
  • Experience with keyframe techniques and software such as Maya and Max
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical animation
  • Outstanding leadership, management and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of game production design processes and methodologies
  • BA or equivalent degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play a pivotal role in growing the animation team and the studio as a whole
  • Lead the animation team across a multitude of projects to maintain high quality animations delivered within project timescales
  • Manage the structure, growth, development and scalability of the animation team with succession plans, pay structures, risk monitoring
  • Manage and maintain relationships internally and externally
  • Produce clearly documented practices for tools, tech, onboarding, management, recruitment and training of staff within the animation team
  • Make critical decisions to ensure that any adjustments that are made are prioritised accordingly and are communicated clearly to all relevant departments
  • Remain up to date with latest technologies and knowledge within the industry
