Our client is a unique independent studio looking to expand its highly experienced team in Manchester.

Having just celebrated their 5th birthday with a collaborative studio rebrand, they looked back on the previous titles we have worked on.

They are currently looking at expanding their team up to 30 by March 2020 as they are working on a globally recognised sci-fi/horror, AAA cross-platform title for the next 2.5 years.

Over the next 5 years they will be bringing the development of world class games to market with new IP creation always at its heart. This will be done through co-development opportunities and working on future facing platforms which means further expansion into different genre of games and technologies.

Job description:

The’re looking for an exceptionally skilled Prop/Hard Surface Artist. If you’ve got a portfolio showing a love for creating sci-fi and futuristic scenes with a broad range of props and environments that help bring life to a game world. Working mainly in 3D, you’ll need to have a good understanding of all aspects of game art creation & optimisation and be comfortable working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.


  • Working alongside the lead artist, the candidate will be on a current project in production and will form part of the highly skilled art team (Environment/ Props).
  • Create high quality hard surface props that meet the vision set by the Art Director.
  • Sculpt and model high and low polygon assets and texture them through the PBR pipeline.
  • Ensure assets created follow the given art direction and are within the agreed production deadlines and conform to the required technical specifications.
  • Collaborate and communicate daily and weekly with Leads across all disciplines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in 3D packages such as Max/Maya/Modo and Zbrush.
  • Excellent texturing skills in both Photoshop and Substance Painter.
  • Thorough knowledge of PBR workflow in Substance painter/designer and Quixel mixer.
  • Working experience of game engines such as Unreal and Unity.
  • A portfolio demonstrating breath-taking hard surface modelling and texturing techniques, both high and low poly.
  • Animation skills desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Well organised and autonomous.
  • Extensive industry experience and worked on at least 1 shipped game.
