Our client’s R&D Dev Support team provides support to the development community for all areas of the platforms, covering areas including graphics, system features, network technologies and the submissions process. The team works closely with various teams across the worldwide studio helping to define the direction taken now and in the future, as well as contributions to platform libraries.
Alongside a team of engineers supporting developers on all platforms, you will work directly with games companies. You will provide advice on effective implementation of platform specific techniques for the company’s hardware, through a support website, as well as on-site visits, training and presentations at developer conferences. You will be involved in the analysis and communication of technical information both internally within the company and externally, to share knowledge and information with the developer community.
In addition to the primary support tasks you will have opportunity to research and develop efficient techniques, components, tutorials, whitepapers and conference materials. This company encourage innovation in the team, setting aside 10% for ‘innovation time’ allowing you to investigate technologies and implement something new. You will also be involved in an element of project work and software development creating, or updating, libraries or sample code to help our developer community.
This role is suited for engineers with some professional industry experience, or strong recent graduates with a good programming background, ideally with a games element.
Requires Skills/Experience
• Strong C/C++ skills and structured programming techniques
• Understanding of 3D maths and experience of graphics programming with OpenGL, DirectX or equivalent
• Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Good time management skills
• Good debugging skills
• Knowledge of performance tools
The following skills/qualifications are highly advantageous:
• Good Computer Science or equivalent Degree – and ideally further post graduate qualifications
• Assembly language / low level programming experience
• Experience of multi-threaded programming
• Experience of game engine development
• Bilingual or Multilingual
You will need to be a strong team player, but be able act independently, professionally and proactively.
You should be quick to learn new skills, be eager to embrace new challenges and to travel from time to time.
