Experienced Concept Artist – Multi-Platform Games – Cambridge, UK

Our client is looking for a highly talented Concept Artist to join their growing team. You’ll work alongside their Environment and Character Art teams, and play an important role as we look to build upon the visual quality of our products.  For this reason, they are looking not only for a talented artist, but also an original thinker; with the ability to take cues from existing design requirements and build upon them with your own ideas.

REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITES:

• Work with the development teams on the visual development of gameplay ideas, characters, locations, props, vehicles and game atmosphere.
• Help develop art reference guides and a cohesive art style for all aspects of the game through concept images.
• Collaborate effectively with other artists to ensure the overall quality of the product.
• Extensive experience in games industry (or equivalent)
• Excellent traditional artistic skills with a good grasp of anatomy, architecture, technical, graphic design and colour theory, plus the ability to adapt to different styles
• Receptive to art direction and ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• Good knowledge of Photoshop or other 2D art packages
• Demonstrable understanding of the use of lighting and composition
• Understanding of the game development pipeline, and the role of Concept Art
• Originality and creativity
• Passion and ability to work as a positive, collaborative, enthusiastic, ambitious and contributing team member with a real desire to be part of the team.  The continued harmony of team work is paramount

DESIRED:

• Graphic Design experience
• Experience with 3D packages (Maya, Zbrush, etc)
