Project: AAA Games

Our client, a leading independent media, and games company are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated DevOps Engineer to join their team in Oxford.

The successful applicant will join as a key member of their Web Team as they develop their latest unannounced AAA title heading to current gen and next-gen platforms.


  • Experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure in AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean.
  • Modern CI/CD experience.
  • Experience with deploying and configuring PHP applications in multiple running environments.
  • Experience of deploying and updating containerised applications using docker, Kubernetes.
  • Good linux server administration experience.
  • Version control management experience with gitlab.
  • Understanding of network protocols including SSL, DNS, firewalls and routing.
  • Some scripting experience with Bash and PHP.
  • Good problem-solving skills and communication skills


  • Expand, improve, and maintain the current CI/CD setup.
  • Enhance and increase the level of automated building, testing and deployment processes.
  • Pro-active communication of technical problems and issues.
  • Ensure the highest possible availability of live systems under your concern.
  • Maintain and respond to site and system level monitoring for all hosted services.

DESIRED SKILLS (good to have):

  • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as Xen, VirtualBox, Vagrant
  • Experience with nginx, php-fpm, mysql/mariadb, memcache, redis, beanstalk or elastic.
  • Experience with configuration management and remote execution software such as Salt, Chef, Puppet.
  • Experience with maintaining Java applications, in particular ELK.
  • Experience with using and implementing infrastructure monitoring tools in particular, New Relic and APM.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
