Our client is currently growing their team! They have an exciting opportunity for a talented Development Director to come join them working on an unannounced action MMO. They are looking for an individual with strong project management skills, to join a highly motivated team of programmers, artists, designers, and QA working to build a varied and unique user experience for the game.

They are a small team in the early stages of development, so this is a unique opportunity to have a large impact. Reporting to the Game Director/Executive Producer, you will be responsible for all aspects of project planning both internal and external. This is a highly visible position inside of the company, and you will be a key member of the leadership team for the project.

As Development Director, you will use your technical and management experience to lead the team to deliver in all areas of the development process. You will be an expert in best practices for project management processes. You will develop and grow the competencies of the current team towards their AAA vision.

Your tasks:

  • Manage a growing project management and QA teams
  • Own the production roadmap, budget, and resource plans
  • Own their Agile development process
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to create clear plans and help scope the project
  • Drive teams to deliver on-time & on-budget results at AAA quality
  • Maintain clear documentation on sprint goals
  • Work with QA and design to prioritise bug fixes and tuning
  • Identify and mitigate risks early and communicate them clearly
  • Manage end of sprint reporting and take a key role in process improvement
  • Manage the process and structure of the functional teams
  • Ensure all team members have the resources they need and resolve bottlenecks before they arise
  • Own all aspects of external production. Budget, contract, and pay vendors and external partners. Ensure that vendors, as well as our partners at CCP Reykjavik, submit deliverables on time

Your profile:

  • Solid experience in game production, PC and console preferred. Shipped multiple AAA titles
  • Substantial experience managing software development. In-depth knowledge of game development: team dynamics, common development hurdles, game engines and technology, development milestone definitions, production process and methodology, outsourcing and co-development scheduling
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to create schedules, monitor, and update progress
  • Organisational skills are your superpower
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, specifically with SCRUM teams
  • Outsourcing experience

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with UE4
  • Relevant University education
  • Prior experience working as a Development Director or Lead/Executive Producer
