OPM’s Client are looking for a Creative Assistant to work closely with the Chief Creative Director across multiple ambitious and exciting new projects. The candidate will have a passion and deep understanding of games, as well as published work in a storytelling entertainment field such as film, theatre, games or literature.

The primary focus is to support the Director in the creative process across several projects and to document and record creative decisions effectively across each of the teams. The Director believes that 80% of the creative process is research and so the role is heavily weighted towards research and documentation

The role requires great communication, excellent documentation skills and the ability to be flexible and supportive in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.

As an understudy to the Director, the candidate will have first-hand experience of the full creative process, interacting with team members across all creative, production and technical disciplines.

Primary responsibility is to assist the Director with deep research for each project:

  • Conduct deep research into areas identified by the Director including games, movies, books, academic papers, mythology and history.
  • Be present with the Director on research trips, interviews with experts and record and document relevant information.
  • The critical ability to extract and present pertinent research for the Director and incorporate these into a Research Bible.
  • Liaise with each creative team and incorporate their research into the Research Bible.
  • Maintain and organise the Research Bible throughout the course of development from beginning to end.

Secondary responsibility is to assist the Director with the Creative Process for each project:

  • Help the Director document the vision, goals and principles for each project and ensure this is agreed and visible to each team.
  • Facilitate and assist the Director with creating a high-level Creative Treatment for each project incorporating high level story, design and technology beats.
  • Assist Director during design sessions in art, gameplay and story with research materials and mind-maps.
  • Document and track results of sessions into concise conclusions that are documented for the Director and rest of the creative teams.
  • Track decisions and discussions between Director and creative leads on each project ensuring that decisions are documented, kept up to date and consistent.
  • Document and assimilate creative decisions made by each team in the director’s absence such that it can be reviewed by the Director.

In addition, responsibilities will include:

  • The candidate, like all team members, is expected to positively contribute ideas, feedback and suggestions to the Director.
  • Assist with the Director’s time keeping, liaising with his Personal Assistant to organise meetings and attendees.
  • Track “at-desk” and formal “dailies” creative feedback and direction between the Director and team members and ensure that these are followed up with the Production Assistant.
