Contract Software Engineer – Console/PC Porting Projects – London

This vacancy may offer a work-from-home start until it’s safe to work in-house or relocate to the location.

OPM are working with a London based Developer looking for Contract Programmers with a wide range of skills.

 

You will work closely with third party developers and other members of the team to port and optimise titles, as well as add new platform-specific functionality, whilst keeping the title true to the original.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and Converting program code between console platforms

Implementing platform specific functionality and features

Implementing platform specific code

Optimising and maintaining existing code

Liaising with other team members to schedule and complete tasks to a high quality

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Expert in C, C++ and C#

Expert in Unreal Engine 4 (C, C++ and Blueprints) and/or Unity3D (version 5 or above)

Expert-level knowledge of optimisation tools and techniques

Experience working with cross-platform codebases

A good understanding of 3D Mathematics, as well as 2D/3D graphics and rendering techniques

A minimum of 3 years commercial experience developing videogames on at least two videogame platforms (console or PC)

Shipped games (console or PC)

Excellent time management skills and the ability to self-organise

Excellent written and oral communications skills in English

 

 

The following would be an advantage:

 

Experience porting videogames between modern videogame platforms (for example, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch or PC)

Experience of scripting languages (Python, Lua)

Experience using Unity3D/Unreal Engine 4 on a shipped title

Experience working with third party middleware (network, physics, audio, effects)

Experience working on mobile platforms (iOS, Android, PS Vita)
