Chief Game Designer – AAA Games – Midlands – Permanent

OPM is very excited to be dealing with this big budget console games developer who have grown rapidly over recent years. Founded several years ago by industry veterans with the declared aim to produce AAA titles on next-gen platforms. They achieved this with their very first release and are now aiming to add more successes to their portfolio line-up. Their team consists of an impressive pool of talent and this is evident in the quality of their games.

They’re now looking for a Chief Game Designer to join their brand new development team. You’ll join the team and the project at an early stage, giving you the rare opportunity to shape the future of an exciting, large-scale AAA title from the outset.

You will lead a multi-discipline design group on a new AAA title, ensuring quality of design and implementation across the project. You will act as ‘vision holder’ for the title, communicating the game’s vision inwardly to the team, upwards to project stakeholders and externally to publisher and press.

You will be responsible for the management of all designers and for the effective planning and delivery of all design work. Additionally, your role is to evangelise quality across the team, ensuring that all features are designed and implemented to a genre-leading standard.

Requirements:

• Extensive and solid industry experience in game design positions
• Experience working in a Lead Design position (or similar) on at least one high-profile published console title
• A demonstrable track record of quality in your previous work
• Experience leading a design team
• Experience working in open world or action/shooter genres is preferred, but not essential

The successful candidates will receive a competitive salary dependant on their skills and experience.
