Business Director – Simulation Games – Kent UK

My client is passionate about building beautiful worlds for their massive fanbase. They are growing fast, developing their games using cutting edge technology and across multiple platforms. They are now looking for a Business Director to join them to lead the vision and direction for all products under their biggest selling franchise. Reporting into the VP Publishing, you will own the release and marketing strategies for this portfolio, monitor important metrics, understand and champion the customer, directly lead marketing execution and ensure financial and engagement goals are hit.



  • Lead and coordinate the regular release plan of the franchises
  • Forecast the business across the FY (and beyond), provide weekly status reports, and lead regular reviews with key leadership stakeholders
  • Manage the Brand and Community team and direct planning accordingly
  • Work with key stakeholders across the business to ensure the release schedule is on track and the portfolio potential is focused – Development, Biz Dev, Licensing, 3PP, Brand, Retail, and Creative Services
  • Be aware of genre-significant developments and provide reporting/SWOT analysis on competitors in the simulator space
  • Execute excellent marketing campaigns to support key releases and sales
  • Drive a new player focus with analysis, data and insight
  • Set and oversee community and customer experience and excellence
  • Set and achieve revenue targets, short and long term.
  • Handle the relationship with external agencies such as media partners and PR
  • Work with platform holders to grow their games on XBOX, PlayStation and Steam
  • Be a central point of leadership for all publishing related activities
  • Lead strategic negotiations and close key deals with the assistance of the Biz Dev/Legal teams



  • A good understanding of PC and Console platforms, especially the simulation genre
  • Financial forecasting and financial franchise planning abilities
  • Experience of releasing core games and DLC on PC and console platforms.
  • Ability to craft and outline a clear vision and strategy around a Franchise with multiple products
  • Strong analytical, organisation and reporting skills including Excel power user capabilities
  • Experience of briefing, managing and executing multiple marketing campaigns
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent team manager
  • Experience briefing media plans via agencies, including PR
  • Ability to understand market direction and spot gaps to maximise commercial and customer benefit
  • Ability to manage and help shape a regular portfolio of add on content in addition to a portfolio of products
  • Be comfortable interacting with a variety of different groups, from media to key platform partners to development teams and more
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the franchise outwardly to any external party
  • Diplomatic and organised managerial experience
  • A keenness to get involved with communities, fans and hobbyists – especially rail fans
