Our client is on the lookout for a talented Animation Programmer, to help them push the boundaries of game engine technology and make their games even better! This innovative studio is based in Cambridge UK, known as a hub of education and technology and boasts a wealth of beauty and history. You’ll have the chance to work on existing, and invent brand new, cutting edge animation technology on platforms from PC to Xbox One and future consoles as they appear; all the time working closely with their world-class animation team to meet and exceed their goals.

Your responsibilities include, researching, pioneering, architecting and implementing new animation systems in Unreal Engine 4. You will make small modifications to the engine when necessary, while maintaining the ability to merge in future engine versions

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of animation systems, e.g. node graphs, animation trees, IK and procedural animation solutions, and similar technologies
  • Professional programming experience in a similar or related role
  • Education, or equivalent knowledge, to at least degree level in any relevant subject
  • A good working knowledge of C++
  • Able to collaborate with a wide range of disciplines

Desirable skills (non-essential but advantageous):

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Profiling and optimisation skills
  • Ability to work well within large existing codebases
  • An interest in, or enthusiasm for, machine learning.
  • Experience in concurrent systems, such as multi-threading or networking
