My client is a UK games developer with a rich portfolio of action adventure games. They keep high production values close to its heart and it shows in all their games. We are looking for a team level or Senior Character Artist to maintain this quality.



As a 3D Character Artist you have passion for all aspects of 3D character creation, being able to demonstrate excellent creative, visual and technical skills in the end to end creation of 3D characters including modelling, texturing & shader usage that benefits from a high quality finish whilst meeting schedule and technical specifications.



  • Experience in Game development or Films as a team level or senior character artist
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the entire character art pipeline shown in Portfolio
  • Ability in photorealistic and/or highly stylised assets
  • Proven experience in both hard edge and low poly modelling for games, as well as understanding of topology (optimisation and deformation).
  • Proven ability in creating realistic high quality textures (and UV layout).
  • Expert knowledge of Maya/Max or equivalent package and good knowledge of Photoshop.
  • Ability to understand and translate concept art into a 3d model.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, proportion, weight and rhythm
  • Understanding of materials and component shader properties
  • Passion and ability to work as a positive, collaborative, enthusiastic, ambitious and contributing
  • Passion for games



  • Take ownership of high end character modelling, texturing and shader work
  • Carry this over into real-time in Unreal Engine
  • Designing an offline character creation pipeline that can support dozens of character variants
  • Work closely with the Lead to set timelines and meet deadlines
  • As a senior you’ll also need to support the Lead Character Artist in ensuring the overall Character Art requirements are met
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team to ensure team goals are met.



  • One AAA game released
  • Unreal Engine Experience
  • Traditional art skills (drawing, sculpting, painting)
  • Substance Painter and/or Substance Designer experience
