Software Quality Engineer – Games – Midlands – Contract

Our client is a well-known UK Games Studio, who are now looking for a talented software engineer with a passion for quality. Ideally you’ll have a background where building in quality is a cultural norm.  Qualified candidates will have strong technical skills, ability to teach and author unit and integration testing and build and maintain complex automation frameworks.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Partnering and collaborating with the engineering team on building quality in (code authoring and test execution)
  • Introducing and promoting automation best practices across the Engineering function
  • Executing non-functional testing, including security, performance and load testing
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, reusable, data driven automated test scripts across test and production applications

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Collaborate with developers and quality staff to define the framework for automation needs
  • Improve and safeguard software and services quality by writing, running, analysing, and automating unit and functional tests
  • Defining and writing end-to-end automation tests
  • Performing code and test reviews

 

WORK RELATIONSHIPS

  • The Development team (engineers, content creators, BI, Community management etc.)
  • The onsite quality team
  • The Europe studios partner engineering team

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a similar role, building and maintaining robust, efficient and reusable test/automation infrastructure
  • Ability to understand software internals and debug code

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in C++ and C#
  • Experience with Unity and Unreal engine
  • A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work
  • Able to demonstrate initiative in problem solving
  • Strong Agile experience
  • Bonus: Experience of Continuous Integration, TDD and BDD
  • Smart, hard-working, low-ego and able to work in a fast-paced casual environment

  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team to research innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
